INTRODUCTION
The Resident Engineer is usually one of a team of experienced engineers including
- Architectural Manager
- Structural Engineer
- Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing (MEP) Engineer
On large or complex projects other Engineering disciplines may be added to the team.
Individually and collectively this team is responsible for ensuring that all construction work is carried out in compliance with the design, specifications, relevant codes, and regulations as they apply to the different disciplines. In this respect, the RE team members must have reasonable knowledge of the codes as mentioned in earlier and regulations, particularly concerning fire life safety issues. the RE’s are responsible for checking the Design drawings and specifications, The contractor’s shop drawings, method statements, and materials approvals as well as transferring requests suggestions, and alternatives for consideration to and from the Contractors and Design team. The RE team will also receive, check, approve, and assemble the As-Built Drawings in preparation for eventual handover.
The RE team will work closely with the Design Team and provide support for, Quality Control Engineers and the Construction team on site.
JOB SUMMARY
RESIDENT ENGINEER / ARCHITECTURAL MANAGER
The Resident Engineer / Architectural Manager (RE/AM) is Responsible for ensuring that the architectural work of a project is carried out according to the project’s quality, time, and cost requirements and in compliance with prevailing regulatory codes and practices. The RE/AM is responsible to the Construction Manager and is often the focus of contact between him and the contractor on site.
The RE/AM will be site-based with experience in multi-building large-scale projects that by necessity, consist of several structures or phases.
RE/AM will monitor the forcon construction drawing, material approval, and method statement from the contractor on site. RE must keep the design engineer fully up-to-date on the works and keep detailed records of all matters that may affect the engineer’s instructions, certificates, or other actions under the contract.

Projects / Construction Manager.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Chartered Builder, Tertiary Education in Construction / Construction Management and/or 8 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities
Our chosen manager will be expected to do the following and are not limited to:
- ENGINEERING STAGE: Lead in Developing Engineering Baseline Schedule for Architectural Works. Assessing Consultant Drawings and Material specs from consultants for architectural works. Provide recommendations to consultants related to construction drawing to make sure the design is under the management/ owner’s needs and site requirements.
- CONSTRUCTION AND COMMISSIONING PHASE: The RE/AM will ensure that projects are properly administered and supervised, keep up-to-date records of Working Drawing, Site Instructions, materials approvals, track information flow to-and-from contractors and Consultants. Identify, analyze, and adjust plans to ensure the plans operate safely, efficiently and reliably. Conduct quality checks for all the drawings and materials. Conduct materials testing review. The RF/AM will proactively identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues.
- CLOSEOUT AND HANDOVER: Check and ensure that all drawings are As-Built, and are closed for all projects. Ensure approval for all training & maintenance manuals. Oversee handover process (BAST)
- HEALTH – SAFETY – ENVIRONMENT. The RE/AM is expected to Understand and support Kandu Safety policy and objectives of the Project. Promote and maintain a “zero harm” philosophy—no harm to the individual’s health and safety or the environment. Be proactive in the prevention of accidents by identifying and discussing risks.
- QUALITY CONTROL: Understand, and support the Kandu Quality Procession on the project. Responsible for the compilation of the Project Quality Plan
